This collection contains research materials compiled by the author for the article "Battleships and Submarines on the Idaho Desert" published in The Journal of the West, April 1996, v. 35, n. 2. Materials include a copy of the organizational chart of the Naval Ordnance Plant, Pocatello, Idaho; a copy of "History of the NOP, Pocatello, Idaho and U.S. Naval Proving Ground, Arco;" five photographs; and two negatives. A copy of the published article is included.

Four letters from Benaiah Titcomb to his uncle and aunt describing prospecting around Henry's Lake, with his partner Dick Rock. He describes in detail technical aspects of mining in the region and descriptions of general interest to Idaho. His partner was known for having moose, elk and buffalo as pets. His pet buffalo eventually killed him.

Benjamin Sylvester Lafferty postcard collection
Postcards mementos from the donor's grandfather's grocery store in Harrison, Idaho. His name was Benjamin Sylvester Lafferty and he came to the panhandle area around 1880. He was an Irish immigrant and his wife Wilhelmina Scheweekman was a German immigrant. They raised 7 children, one of whom was Albert Lafferty who had the tugboats on Coeur d'Alene until his death about 1957. Postcards are of Rathdrum, Harrison, and Idaho Falls, Idaho.
